Hidetoshi Ono joined Manulife in January 2015 as the Managing Director, Japan Real Estate. He is responsible for the company’s real estate investment portfolio in Japan as well as the corporate real estate needs for Japan life insurance operation with 100 locations nation-wide.
Prior to Manulife, Hidetoshi has more than 25 years of real estate and management experience in AXA, ING (now CBRE Global Investors), GE, and Mitsui Fudosan. Most recently, Ono-san was Head of Japan Core Fund, AXA Real Estate based in Singapore. He was responsible for Tokyo Office Property Fund jointly managed by AXA and Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank. He successfully started the fund and fully invested committed capital to five Tokyo mid-sized CBD offices.
Before AXA, Ono-san was the Managing Director/Country Manager-Japan in ING Real Estate where he started their Tokyo Office, grew the business to US$3 billion assets under management and 45 people, and completed two major business take-over transactions. Prior to ING, he held various senior management positions in GE businesses in Japan including GE Real Estate, GE Edison Life Insurance, and Corporate Marketing. Ono-san has started his career with Mitsui Fudosan, where he was involved in office asset management, condominium developments, overseas business, and the establishment of real estate investment advisory business.
Ono-san holds MBA from Stanford University and graduated from Hitotsubashi University with Bachelor of Social Studies.
